Dealing With Covid-19 in Derbyshire: A Local Business Directory

What a scary and terrifying ordeal we're currently wading through right now. Firstly, I just want to say that I hope you're all keeping safe and well. Secondly, I wanted to do something, just a little something that might prove vaguely useful. So, here is a list of updates on businesses across Derbyshire, many of which are doing things differently to usual while we wait for this all to calm down a little.

The Two Best Christmas Markets Near Derbyshire

'Why doesn't Derby have a Christmas market?' is something that I ask myself every year.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being one of those annoying people that LOVES a Christmas market from the off. So, it's a shame that there isn't a Christmas market in Derby for this Xmas-loving-lass, isn't it? In this post, I'll be sharing two of the best that I've found *just* outside the county.

There's something quite Grinch-like about me until I'm dragged (hardly kicking and screaming, admittedly) to one of these markets. After that, I'm a fully-fledged-festive-fangirl...

Belper Floods 2019: In Pictures

It's been a tough week for parts of Derbyshire, particularly Matlock. As a Belper girl, I thought I'd share some images of the aftermath of the flooding in my hometown.

These images were taken on the Saturday (9th November), the day after the flooding hit. As you can see, the water levels had subsided enough for Bridge Foot to be reopened and for the River Gardens to be generally accessible too.

Lyme Park: Popping Round to Mr. Darcy's

Lyme Park might just be over the border in Cheshire, but I hadn't actually been until last month.

If you've never heard of it before, it's where Colin Firth got drenched in that lake... Lyme Park was actually home to Mr. Darcy in the BBC 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Educating Rita at the Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield

Shamefully, I'd never been to the theatre in lovely Sheffield, despite it only being a stone's throw away from Derbyshire. I rectified that recently by venturing up the M1 to catch Educating Rita at the Lyceum Theatre during its 2019 UK tour.

Peak District Photo Diary: An Afternoon In Castleton

I love a good trip to Castleton, so I thought I'd share some photos from a jaunt to the pretty Peak District village a couple of weeks ago. (I'm aware that it's probably overkill considering that I've already written two posts about that trip over on Katie Writes, but it is a Derbyshire Delight, isn't it? So I couldn't neglect to mention it over here too!)

Coffee at Coffika, Meadowhall

Who'd have thought that Meadowhall would have an independent coffee shop? Meet Coffika... Which is just that: An independent coffee shop nestled in a bustling shopping centre.
